The Popularity of Location Based Marketing

Filed under: internet marketing — Tags: — admin @ 4:19 am

Data is today commonly shared on mobile phones. Location based marketing is a new marketing tool in which a person uses their GPS equipped smartphone to reveal their location in order to get information on special promotion offers from nearby businesses. This means if one has a GPS equipped smartphone, they do not have to go window shopping or researching for information, they just indicate that they are in a certain location and a list of all the beneficial discount offers is at their fingertips.

But then of course, location-based marketing may not be effective if the promoting party does not have a significant number of contacts of followers. Search engine optimization is still necessary. To have a million friends on Facebook means a lot in marketing since the message is been able to reach that number. Marketing is all about the masses and response to services and products. If these million people “like” your product on the web, then one can be consoled that he is moving in the right way. Unidirectionality based marketing is advantageous in that one can be able to reach everyone at any given time. So, one will be proud to let people know where their location is so they can even reach your services and offers easily. Hence, the emergence of various “lo-so” applications such as Foursquare, Loopt, Gowalla and Google Latitude.

The whole concept of location-based marketing can be both effective and ineffective. One one hand, it can be useful because it is an effortless invitation for someone to check out a certain place. This strategy is appropriate for those who want to have more visitors coming in to their physical shop.

One the other hand, it can be ineffective since a simple dot on the map cannot discuss much on what the business is all about which is why the chances of the reader actually walking in to the business being promoted is slim.

Location-based marketing is also subject to manipulation by competitors and inappropriate recipients. This is because data is shared everywhere by everyone. If your company posts its benefits and losses to day, all your competitors already have the strengths and weaknesses at their fingertips. What was considered as personal information is no longer personal and the lack of privacy has brought in a lot of legal battles by different firms in terms of stolen ideas, exposed weaknesses and web attacks on brands. This makes location based marketing a new battleground for brands.

The newest trend on social networking and marketing has its pros and cons. For a business owner to be successful with such strategy, it is important that goals are set first. It is vital to know that location-based marketing is not suitable for all business types.

What SEO Copywriting Is and Is Not ?

Filed under: SEO — Tags: — admin @ 8:55 pm

It seems a lot of Internet marketers-and even some so-called “gurus”-just don’t get it. There is constant buzz about SEO copyrighting, but a lot of it is just plain off target!

Most of the posts, articles and discussions deal with such things as allowable limits, keyword density, over-optimization and so on. They make SEO copywriting all about the search engines. In other words, they put the emphasis on the first part of the term-SEO-and forget about the second part of the term-copywriting.

What SEO copywriting means is that you are writing copy designed to cause a human being to take some kind of action. Your site visitors or target audience should come first and the tricks used to rank the copy well in the search engines should come dead last. What good is traffic if the copy doesn’t convert site visitors into buyers? Obviously, not a whole lot, and that’s why the human visitors should always come first.

Putting too much emphasis on SEO can cause what is being cranked out to become boring, repetitive, monotonous babble. Such writing would never make it onto a site, save for the fact that the webmaster simply wanted to rank for certain terms.

Therefore, here are some guidelines offered in the interest of saving the good name of search engine copywriting:

Traits of Good SEO Copywriting:

- Written for the benefit of the visitor above all else.

- Unique and written with a purpose.

- Natural sounding and smooth flowing.

Traits of Poor SEO Copywriting:

- Written merely for the search engines.

- Created for new pages merely by changing around some keywords or phrases.

- Containing the monotonous or redundant use of the same words over and over.

How should you write for SEO purposes? You will want to do the following:

- Understand your target audience.

- Specifically choose the focus of your page.

- Create a plan or outline of the message you want to communicate.

- Decide on how to best convey your message to your target audience.

- Incorporate key phrases into the body copy in a natural manner and as you write so that they flow naturally as part of the desired message.

In writing copy for SEO purposes never:

- Tailor your message merely for the purpose of ranking highly.

- Use a keyphrase every time you mention a particular item in your copy.

- Add copy to your site merely to appeal to the search engines.

- Rely on pat keyword density formulas and ratios.

- Shoehorn keyphrases into every place possible in your text. It will come across as sounding totally ridiculous!

Good copywriting is not really about writing for the search engines but about writing for the visitors, while secondarily including some elements to help the search engines find your copy.

Really, SEO copywriting is about quantity as well as quality. Yes, this will require some writing on your part, but good search engine ranking is not achieved without some effort. If you like to talk better than you like to type, then a good voice dictation program, like Dragon Dictate for Mac or Dragon NaturallySpeaking for PC, can be very helpful.

Remember that your customers are what make or break your the success of your website, so focus on them and you will be sure you come across as someone who keeps the interest of your readers in mind first and foremost.

Does the amount of outbound links on the linking page have any effect on the link value?

Filed under: SEO — admin @ 7:59 pm

Ok, here are some expert comments.
Andre Scholten
“Then less outbound links to a page has the more popularity the remaining outbound links get. Less is more”

Ralph Tegtmeier
“In terms of PageRank, this is a no-brainer, of course. He less outgoing links, the stronger their impact”

Jim Boykin
“I love getting links on pages that have lots of baclinks to them”

Hamlet Batista
“As per the PageRank formula, the more outbound links the less link juice is passed”

Ok, here is my explanation.

Suppose you are requested to recommend applicants for a job. You refer 2 applicants for the job. Then the applicants have higher possibility of getting hired. If you recommend 100 applicants, is the value of your recommendation is same as earlier?
No, it will definitely less.

So more outbound links of linking page means less link value.
